What is Vocal Editing?

Vocal editing is the part of the process were things are deleted, replaced, cut, copied and pasted to manipulate sounds to create the perfect listening pleasure. Before the final mixing comes the most important step, vocal editing. Fantastic editing is necessary to create a perfected vocal sound.

It’s the stage that cleans up any issues within the raw track so that they’re ready to be mixed and perfected for your song. When editing vocals there are 5 steps to follow to create your sound:

1. Create a comp track to build a take
2. Tighten up the timing to fit your sound
3. Check your edits and create fades were needed
4. Manage the singer’s breathing sounds
5. Combine the vocal track
6. If needed use pitch correction to fix mistakes
